Don Quichot

The Dutch National Ballet is very proud to present this Season's new full-length classical production Don Quichotte, in a version specially created for the Company by the leading Russian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky. For the last five years Ratmansky has been artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, which under his inspired leadership underwent a new artistic flowering and was hailed by critics as 'the best dance company in the world'. One of Ratmansky's greatest ambitions has been to create a new Don Quichotte, after Cervantes's masterpiece about the foolish wandering knight with – in the ballet – an emphasis on the love between the beautiful Kitri and the destitute Basilio.
